We arrived well after a long flight. We had anticipated touring as soon as we got here, but much to our surprise, and relief, we went straight to the hotel to freshen up, rest a little, and have some dinner. Everyone was tired. We even had a few delegates who slept through the dinner call! And, when we did room checks, most were already asleep.
Publishing the blog will be a bit of a challenge as China is not friendly towards Google. At this point, I cannot access the blog. While Internet is free (I don't have to pay for it), it's not FREE (I can't access anything I choose).
I can transmit to the blog by phone. Please bear in mind that when I do send by phone, I'm a little more prone to typing errors, as the type is small and I have "old eyes." My daughter, Kelly, will be helping me with this by trying to clean up my work when she accesses it. I'm also going to try to send by email, via Kelly. This may work a little better than the phone method, but we may have a little bit of a delay. I think this will be the preferable method, but there may be times when email is not available to me.
We'll do what we can, but I want you to know up front what the situation is.
Our delegation maanager's name is Li. He has a pleasant personality and really wants to help make this an exceptional experience. He has a great sense of humor, too.
After we arrived, the leaders all met with him while the delegates were resting and cleaning up. During the course of the conversation, he mentioned that we would have dinner at the hotel that night. I asked what we'd be having, anticipating a main course. He looked at me and said "Chinese!"
It was a traditional Chinese meal. It was served family style on a lazy Susan. We had a variety of items, including fish, meatballs, seaweed, rice, watermelon, potatoes, sea cucumber, and some things we couldn't identify, but they were good!
Tomorrow we'll start touring.
