June 29, 2010 - Wuzhen

We were able to explore the village today. This really is a resort-type area, and very popular with the local people. It's very picturesque.

We walked through part of the town and saw several exhibits. We saw another demonstration of silk weaving, and we also saw how indigo is made. We stopped at the old post office and just took in the sights. It was fascinating to seek the people working, or tending stores. Often we could see craft people at work, and that was the best experience.

It had rained in the early morning, and then the sun came out and just baked us. The humidity felt like it was 95% and by the time we were finished. We were soaking wet.

That also brings out the mosquitoes. At last count I had over 30 bites on my legs, alone. Li mixed up a "special Chinese herbal remedy" for me to put on the bites. It was a combination of pepper seed, water and salt, and it was boiled together to make broth. I put it on a coule of times, and it seemed to help.

We took the bus back to Shanghai to pack and get ready to fly to Hong Kong tomorrow. It's hard to believe we'll be home a few days.
